A grande noite do cinema americano é já amanhã. Terminada a longa greve dos guionistas americanos que esteve prestes a questionar a realização da 80ª Gala dos Academy Awards – Oscars, é agora tempo de reflexão e festa. Esta é a grande semana de Hollywood, todos os actores, realizadores, argumentistas, produtores e demais cinéfilos sonham algum dia atravessar a “red carpet” e serem no final os eleitos dos académicos do cinema americano.
Aproveitando este magnífico acontecimento, e tendo já feito as minhas “apostas” para a grande noite do Kodak Theatre, é tempo de as publicar, aqui:

Parece óbvia a escolha. Day-Lewis, tem uma performance brilhante em There Will Be Blood, é um actor meticuloso até ao último detalhe, e leva a preparação para os poucos e seleccionados filmes que faz ao extremo, como podemos ver com "este" Daniel Plainview.
Nesta categoria, há também a hipótese de George Clooney, o “menino bonito” do cinema americano actual, dar a surpresa com a sua interpretação do “fixer” Michael Clayton, que acaba por intitular o filme, que foi, para mim uma das grandes surpresas do ano, com interpretações muito acima da média dos três principais actores, que lhes valeram as respectivas nomeações aos Oscars. Sendo que Clooney, está exemplar num dos melhores "papeis" da sua carreira.

Aqui a escolha é bem mais difícil, toda a gente fala de Julie Christie e da sua grande interpretação de Fiona Anderson, uma mulher que tenta lutar contra a doença de Alzheimer com o apoio do seu marido. Ganhou o Globo de Ouro.
Por outro lado temos a francesa Marion Cotillard, que interpreta a diva Édith Piaf de forma brilhante. Ganhou o Bafta.
E por último temos Ellen Page, figura central de Juno, num registo claramente diferente e talvez demasiado arrojado para ser premiado.
Eu apostaria em Marion Cotillard como a eleita da academia, gostava de ver Ellen Page ganhar. Mas, muito dificilmente uma das três não ganhará.

Para mim esta é a categoria com a escolha mais óbvia, Javier Bardem, que está brilhante como Anton Chigurh, um vilão enigmático que Bardem redefine à sua maneira e que ficará na história do cinema e irá certamente catapultar o espanhol para o lugar que merece no cinema. Bardem tem ganho todos os prémios mais relevantes, pré-Oscars.

Aqui a escolha também parece fácil, Cate Blanchett que interpreta de forma notável o mítico Bob Dylan em I’m Not There e que como Bardem tem ganho todos os prémios que antecedem os Oscars, incluindo a Coppa Volpi, a melhor actriz do Festival de Veneza.
No entanto, aqui, acho que a versátil Tilda Swinton, na sua primeira nomeação, poderá ser a surpresa da noite se vencer.

Eis uma categoria, com bastantes opções, e com uma escolha difícil, por um lado o excêntrico Julian Schnabel muito amado em Holywood, do outro lado Jason Reitman, que revolucionou com Juno, e ainda Paul Thomas Anderson e Tony Gilroy que marcam os filmes que realizam, e depois temos os Coen, que partem como favoritos mas que poderão perder para Jason Reitman (talvez demasiado jovem para ser premiado).

Para mim, na principal categoria a escolha é óbvia. Juno, pela irreverência, pela diferença, pela simplicidade e pela novidade que trouxe, merece, na minha opinião a eleição como filme do ano. No entanto, No Country for Old Men (o favorito) será também certamente uma boa escolha e talvez mesmo mais consensual.
Amanhã resolverei as minhas dúvidas!
